Judging Desserts First

Everyone gets a little excited when Girl Scout cookie season approaches, savoring those thin mints, do-si-dos and samoas. (Sorry Boy Scouts, popcorn is lame).  But imagine taking those tiny treats and asking top restauranteurs to turn them into upscale desserts and appetizers.  That is the concept behind the 6th annual Desserts First.  And I wanted to be super cool and just wait to make an announcement until it’s closer, but I have been asked to participate as a judge for the 2012 Desserts First! WOOP WOOP! Err, I mean, yes I would be honored.

A socially acceptable way to eat 30 desserts in one evening.

Desserts First takes place on January 26th from 5:30p-8:30p at the Kentucky International Convention Center.  Tickets are $50 each and benefit the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana.  In case you’ve never been here are the details:

Desserts First is a fundraiser where the finest restaurant chefs create original desserts using the well-known Girl Scout Cookie varieties as the key ingredient and present them for tasting.  The evening will also include hors d’oeuvres, silent auction tables, a judging crowning the best dessert of the event, and many more surprises!

Last year Sweet Surrender won for their Salted Caramel Coconut Tart and Jefferson Community College won for their Do-si-Do Chili.  The People’s choice awards went to Vincenzo’s for their Samoa Zabaglione. Here is a list of this years participating restaurants:
